The Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg enables the Dutch administrative court to put an end to the ‘rigged’ cigarette. That is in essence the ruling that the Court made on Tuesday 22 February 2022 in a case that Youth Smoking Prevention, the Municipality of Amsterdam and 15 healthcare organizations have brought against the government.

Youth Smoking Prevention (YSP) aims to make smoking history by ensuring that children do not start smoking. The foundation tries to persuade politicians to strongly increase the excise duty on tobacco and to significantly reduce the number of tobacco outlets.
YSP is publisher of the independent website TabakNee!, which exposes the strategies and practices of the tobacco lobby. YSP also tries to turn the tide through grassroot campaigns and lawsuits against the Dutch State and the tobacco industry.
Youth Smoking Prevention was founded by pulmonologists Wanda de Kanter (previously NKI/AVL) and Pauline Dekker (Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis).
